Child, Adult, and Family Counselling

Individual and family psychotherapy sessions can be carried out at my home office in-person in Chilliwack, BC, or remotely via a secure telehealth platform. Art psychotherapy sessions can only be facilitated in-person due to its tactile nature. I utilise an integrative approach and am trained in a number of empirically supported therapies, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, art therapy, and acceptance
and commitment therapy (ACT).

Caregiver Coaching & Consultation

Being a caregiver is hard. There are no manuals or blueprints for how to navigate some of the modern issues we are seeing today with access to technology and the Internet. I work with parents and/or caregivers to help support them in their role with their children.
Unlike psychotherapy, that is focused on the individual or the “family system,” caregiver coaching is aimed at teaching coaching techniques, skills, and strategies to parents/caregivers alone to help strengthen their relationship with their child.

    Child and Adolescent Therapy

I provide developmentally appropriate individual clinical counselling and psychotherapy services to children (7+) and adolescents in-person at my home office in Chilliwack, BC. I can provide virtual sessions to older adolescents if preferable, but I prefer to see children for in-person sessions.

I have specialised with children, adolescents, and young adults for the majority of my career, both in a government/health authority/non-profit setting as well as in private practice. I approach this work by including the parents/caregivers or legal guardian where possible to help generalise the progress in therapy to the child’s every day life.

  • A smiling man with glasses, tattoos, a red beanie, and a green t-shirt sitting in a workshop or studio with people working in the background.

    Adult Therapy

My graduate education in applied counselling psychology has also trained me to work with adults on a variety of concerns. There is no handbook for being an adult, and sometimes it can feel like we are facing some of our greatest challenges alone. Adult therapy can involve a combination of individual counselling, psyco-education, and skill development.

I can provide individual therapy to adults both in-person and online via a secure telehealth conferencing platform.

  • Two women seated on a colorful blanket in a park with blooming cherry blossom trees, holding and playing with a young girl between them. The scene is lively with many people and tents in the background.

    Family Therapy

I can provide family therapy sessions between children, adolescents, or adults and their parents/caregivers when appropriate. Some challenges impact the whole family “system” and a systemic approach to therapy (working with everyone) can sometimes be more effective in resolving the challenges that initially brought a person to therapy.

I generally provide family therapy sessions in-person at my home office in Chilliwack, BC, however I am able provide virtual family therapy sessions if participants are able and it is a suitable option.

Fees and Extended Benefits

Fees for clinical counselling services are set out by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and prorated in relation to professional experience.

Payment for individual counselling and/or consultation is required on the day of the service. Clients are welcome to confidentially store a payment method on my electronic health record system, Jane, which will be charged at the end of each session. An invoice will be provided following payment, which can be submitted to your extended benefits provider if you have coverage for Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). I recommend you check with your benefits provider first to see what coverage is available.

I am registered as a mental health provider with First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) as well as with the BC Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP). I am not an ICBC provider at this time. Your child may be eligible for other funding streams that cover clinical counselling services. These include:

Jordan’s Principle: Jordan's Principle provides financial support to First Nations children living in Canada to access the products, services and supports they need. In some cases, this funding may cover clinical counselling. For more information and to apply for coverage: https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1568396042341/1568396159824

BC Autism Funding: Children and adolescents diagnosed with autism in British Columbia are eligible to receive autism funding through their local Child and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) office, which is up to $22,000/year for children under 6 years of age, and up to $6000/year for children over 6, including adolescents. Parents/caregivers can allocate some of that funding for clinical counselling to help cover the cost of sessions if needed.

Please note: I cannot accept funding directly from the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) or Xyólheméylh due to a conflict of interest with another contract I hold. This includes sessions or services paid for directly by Social Workers and the SAJE Program.

Payment can be made by cash, Interac e-transfer, or via credit card through my secure billing and scheduling system, Jane.
